9th Annual Dusk-To-Dawn Horrorthon

Spend all night at the Aero Theatre’s ninth annual Horrorthon! Complete with between-film free food, giveaways, trailers, crazy shorts and surprises! Movies include Creepshow, Gargoyles, The Thing, The Night of a Thousand Cats, The Deadly Spawn, Basket Case and Zombie Holocaust. Frightfully Fintastic Fishy Fest at Heal the Bay's Santa Monica Pier Aquarium

Celebrate Halloween and Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) all weekend long with family-friendly, spooky marine science activities. A glow-in-the-dark deep-sea laboratory, craft stations to create Dia de los Muertos masks, and face painting are just some of the features of this annual festival. All ghosts and goblins are invited to join a 3:00 PM parade on Sunday, Oct. 26th. “Fintastic” treats for all!

All You Can Carry Pumpkin Patch at Santa Monica Farmers Market
October 29th, 8:30am | Downtown Farmers Market, Arizona Ave at 2nd St
Strategically stack and balance all the pumpkins you can carry, put them in your teeth, balance them on your head (no help from friends, and no equipment please) then carry them to the end of the 25 foot long pumpkin patch lane and they are yours! Costumes encouraged!

Vegan Oktoberfest
October 4th, 1-6pm | 2600 Barnard Way
Vegan Oktoberfest is LA’s newest, most festive and authentic Oktoberfest celebration. It kicks off this year on October 4th! Our beer hall by the beach will feature traditional Bavarian food, live Oompah bands, beer maidens, and of course, refreshing and delicious beer poured to perfection by dozens of great breweries. Come enjoy a taste of Germany while you make new friends and indulge to your heart’s desire. Since all the food and beer is vegan, you can experience a traditional Oktoberfest celebration with a clear conscience. Did we mention there’s a view of the Pacific Ocean while you drink? Prost!

California Harvest Festival on the Pier

Leaves don’t change color in Los Angeles and sweaters are reserved for December so the transition into fall is often overlooked. A pumpkin patch pops up here and there but the city lacks an event that celebrates the season and its bountiful harvest. The Event Deck on the Santa Monica Pier is a perfect place to gather vendors from up and down California to offer seasonal dishes and drinks in a family friendly atmosphere during the day followed by an after party at night. There will be food, drinks, music and a lot of fun!

BAM Fest
October 26th, 1pm-5pm | 18th Street Arts Center, 1639 18th Street
Celebrate with us during the 25th Anniversary edition of our popular annual fundraiser the Beer Art and Music Festival (BAM). This afternoon art festival includes artist open studios, contemporary art ‘crash courses’, live music, and 35+ craft breweries from around Southern California.

Day of the Dead
November 1st, 11am-3pm | Woodlawn Cemetery, 1847 14th Street
Join us for a traditional Mexican celebration, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), where family and friends gather to honor and celebrate loved ones that have passed. The event focuses on the traditions that make up this celebration of life and death. There are a vareity of ways participants can discover the philosophy and history of the day inlcuding an opening procession led by Ketzaliztli dancers, a workshop to create offerings of marigold coronitas (crowns) and papel picado (perforated paper) for loved ones who have passed, self -guided tours of the cemetery that explore the history of local famous people, a documentary on how a small town in Mexico prepares for the holiday, a traditional Nahuatl ceremonial blessing and musicians performing throughout the cemetery to honor those who have passed. There will be free admission, bike valet and parking.

Ice at Santa Monica

Every holiday season, Downtown Santa Monica brings a little ice skating to the beach side community and transforms the corner of 5th Street and Arizona Avenue into ICE at Santa Monica, a premier outdoor ice skating rink. The 8,000 square foot rink by the beach offers residents and visitors a little taste of winter without the bite.

A great location to celebrate the holidays, ICE at Santa Monica is the perfect place to hang out with friends and family, throw a party in a private event cabana, enjoy a first date or sign up for skate lessons. Join the fun and visit Downtown Santa Monica this season to experience ICE.

Winterlit in Downtown Santa Monica

Every year Santa Monica hosts a series of holiday events and activities that light up Downtown, bringing a festive holiday spirit to this idyllic seaside city. In fact, we’ve managed to engineer some true holiday magic, turning a busy urban corner into a magical winter wonderland with the annual ICE at Santa Monica skating rink, open November 1 through January 22. Robert Crais & Michael Connelly in Conversation

We're thrilled to welcome our good friends Robert Crais & Michael Connelly back to the library for an evening of conversation on Election Night (so it'll be easy to remember). It's also the national release date for both of their new books, Robert Crais' The Promise and Michael Connelly's The Burning Room. This event will ticketed and will reach capacity quickly. Tickets are free and will be released in the lobby outside the library's auditorium one hour prior to the program, though a line is very likely to form earlier than that. Early arrival is recommended. Books will be available for purchase during the event.

2014 Los Angeles Cure Search Walk

Our annual night to celebrate our wonderful neighbors! Come celebrate with friends and family! Montana Avenue from 6th – 17th streets find wonderful gifts, have your photos taken with Santa, listen to live music, indulge in great food and drinks! A fun night for all!

Main Street Holiday Party

Take part in the Main Street Holiday Party. Enjoy holiday parties at numerous Main Street businesses. There will be music and more! Santa will be there so bring a camera! Following the tree-lighting at the Museum, take part in a Candle Light Walk to the famous Shopping Cart Tree at Edgemar Courtyard. More details to come.

Santa Monica - Venice Christmas Run

The Santa Monica-Venice Christmas Run is Los Angeles' largest holiday running event and a great fundraiser. In fact, the race is one of the most popular running events in Los Angeles, regardless the time of year. The Santa Monica-Venice Christmas Run has a 5k and a 10k run that winds through the beautiful streets of Santa Monica and Venice, California, including a long stretch along the famous Venice Beach boardwalk.

Butter Aerobics

What happens when you combine artisanal butter churning, an 80’s fitness class, and the perfect holiday gift idea? This. And it’s bonkers. Join PopSoda's Jimmy Fusil and Mike Wait for a delicious holiday workout and come ready to sweat. More details to come.

Participation limited to 150 people per class on a first-come basis. RSVP does not guarantee you a spot so get there early! Butter cream is free to participants thanks to our partner Alta Dena Dairy. Jars for butter churning are available to purchase onsite for $5 or BYOJ (between 12-18oz, plastic only please).
