Every Fireside Concert features a different mix of contemporary music, opera, jazz, storytelling, dance, poetry, beat boxing, a capellasinging and more. Welcome to Thenardier’s Inn, a re-telling of the Victor Hugo Les Miserable tale put on by the man himself. Submerge yourself in the dancing, drinks, and girls of the Inn, while singing along with the classic characters and songs, in this 360 degree immersive theatrical cabaret. You will be escorted through the event by Master Thenardier, where the audience is invited to his very Inn for an intimate yet rambunctious evening where every seat is in on the action! Art Los Angeles Contemporary (ALAC) is the International Contemporary Art Fair of the West Coast. The annual fair presents top blue chip and emerging galleries from around the world, with a strong focus on Los Angeles galleries, exhibiting dynamic recent works from their represented artists. ALAC displays a cross section of what is happening now in contemporary art making and is a sophisticated yet accessible environment for all to enjoy. The Santa Monica Teen Film Festival is an interdepartmental initiative between the Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division, the Santa Monica Public Library, the Virginia Avenue Park Teen Center, Office of Sustainability & Environment and City TV. Its purpose is to showcase and provide an outlet for the creative talents of teen filmmakers, as well as encourage youth to use the art of filmmaking as a form of creative expression and commentary on the world in which they live. Although the festival is open to films by teens from around the globe, the public screenings take place in Santa Monica. You do not need to be present at screenings to win an award.

Presented by the Santa Monica Conservancy, discover more than 130 years of Santa Monica history. In approx. 2 hours and six blocks, the walk traverses more than 130 years of Santa Monica History, from its Wild West frontier beginnings to the sophisticated metropolis of today. Tours are every Saturday morning, $5 for members, $10 for public. Parking is available in the city parking structure opposite the hostel on the east side of 2nd Street. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Note that this tour is not suitable for young children.

Shark Sundays are a favorite weekly feature at the Aquarium. At 3:30 p.m. every Sunday, you can watch and listen to an informative presentation about these often misunderstood animals while our horn and swell sharks cruise around the tank, noses out of the water, mouths open, anticipating the meal to come. Expect a splash of seawater if you’re close enough to the exhibit. Watch a shark-themed film – they’re shown at scheduled intervals throughout the afternoon. Also, stop by our pier exhibit, and see if you can find our Pacific angel shark. Everyone is invited to make a fun shark craft project to take home.
