LA Marathon

More than 25,000 runners from around the country unite each year to tackle the annual LA Marathon. The 28th annual, 26.2-mile course weaves its way from Los Angeles to Santa Monica, passing popular attractions along the way. Run down Sunset Strip, historic Route 66, Rodeo Drive, and right past the Santa Monica Pier before crossing the finish line. Inspiration for the marathon came from the 1984 Summer Olympic Games held in Los Angeles, where the United States performed well in the sport of track and field. Since 1985, the event has grown to be one of the largest marathons in the country.

The course is a net downhill course that begins at Dodger Stadium, and runners cross the finish line at Ocean Boulevard in Santa Monica. Along the way, 25 aid and water stations will be set up. In order to receive a medal upon finishing, participants must finish within eight hours. After crossing the finish line, racers may meet up with their families on Ocean Avenue between Broadway Avenue and Colorado Avenue. Run like the wind and finish strong!
